Those who use ESXi instances MUST have full ESXi license from VMWare in order to let vmwClient (and ANY other 3rd party client as well) perform ANY Inventory control operations. The free ESXi license will allow only READ ONLY operations for any 3rd party client
We strongly advise to keep your device Wi-Fi connection UP in device sleep mode. This will allow vmwClient to proceed normally in device sleep mode and prevent any lags, data loss (pulled from the network) and usage of 3G instead of Wi-Fi.
To keep your device Wi-Fi connection up in sleep mode go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi settings then press device 'Menu' button and press 'Advanced'. Set Wi-Fi sleep policy to 'Never'.
